These standards apply to everything NewsHouse publishes. They exist so readers can judge our work for themselves.

Accuracy and sourcing

  • We prioritise primary sources: PIB and ministry releases, RBI and SEBI documents, official statistics, court judgments and orders, parliamentary records, scientific papers, and statements from the organisations involved.
  • Major claims are corroborated with at least one reputable independent outlet. Where sources disagree, we say so and explain which figure we used.
  • Every article ends with a Sources list linking the material we relied on. Figures that come from a single report are credited to it in the text.
  • If we cannot verify something, we leave it out.

Quotes and attribution

We never invent or alter quotes. We quote people only when we have seen their exact words in a primary source or reputable reporting, and we link where the quote comes from. We do not copy other publications’ reporting; we write in our own words and credit the outlets we cite.

Dates and timeliness

Every article shows its publication date, its event date where different, and an Updated date when it is materially revised. Stories about events that have not yet happened — a scheduled launch or meeting — are written as previews and updated afterwards. We do not present old developments as breaking news.

News and perspective

News reporting states what happened and what the sources say. Context and interpretation appear in sections headed Perspective, and whole interpretive pieces carry an Analysis label.

Who writes our articles

Articles carry the byline NewsHouse Desk. They are desk-written from the sources linked in each piece — we do not claim on-the-ground reporting and do not attribute work to journalists who do not exist. Articles are researched and drafted with the help of AI tools and checked against their sources before publication. We remain responsible for everything we publish.

Images

We use freely licensed images (Creative Commons or public domain), images supplied for publication, or graphics we create. Every image is credited in its caption with its author and licence, and is illustrative unless the caption says otherwise.

Independence and fairness

Advertisers do not influence our coverage and we do not accept payment for articles. We aim to represent the people and institutions we cover accurately, and to cover developments across India’s states and the wider world rather than a single perspective.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. Read our Corrections Policy or contact us.
